Double Master of Law / Double Master en Droit  University of Neuchâtel & King's College London

The University of Neuchâtel offers a Double Master of Law with King's College London, which gives students the opportunity to spend 2 semesters in Switzerland and 2 in the UK. This programme is bilingual, and allows students to discover two different legal cultures by studying abroad with less administrative restraints.

The University of Neuchâtel (UniNE) is a French-speaking university in Switzerland, with nearly 20% of its 4380 students coming from abroad. Its Faculty of Law is internationally renowned for its legal research in several innovative areas of law, among which sport law, health law and tenancy law.

Price/Fee: 790 CHF (aprox. 708 EUR) per semester for UniNe (FR). £13,800 (aprox. 18148 EUR) for the full programme at King's College.

Accommodation: ALFEN SA is responsible for student housing in UniNE, while King's College offers graduate students rooms in its residencies.


Application Process

Students must apply to the University of Neuchâtel, following the application process as it has been described in the UniNE Master of Law.


Programme Structure (120 ECTS)

Students of this programme spend the first two semesters of their studies in Neuchâtel, where they must obtain 60 ECTS by following the courses or seminars the university offers:

• Courses: Associations et organisations sportives; Biotechnologies et environnement juridique des sciences de la vie; Comparative and European Private Law; Competition Law and Policy; Droit administratif approfondi : questions choisies; Droit constitutionnel comparé et européen; Droit de la communication (FLSH); Droit de la prévoyance professionnelle; Droit des conflits armés (droit international humanitaire); Droit médical; Internal Market Law of the EU; Legal Aspects of Swiss Company Law in an Innovative Perspective; Procédure pénale; Statut personnel du sportif etc

• Seminars: Droit des contrats et procès civil; Acquisition d’une société et contentieux entre actionnaires et organes; Les personnes atteintes de maladies rares et les assurances (sociales); Les nouvelles infractions dans le Code mondial antidopage; Droit des migrations (Asile et nouvelles formes de protection internationale); Droit pénal et procédure pénale etc

The following two semesters are spent in London, where students must obtain 60 ECTS:

• Courses: Competition Law and Regulated Network Industries; Economics of Competition Law; International Trade and Shipping Law; International Tax Law; Judicial Protection in the EU; EU Environmental Law; International Investment Law; Arbitration of International IP Disputes etc 

• Master Thesis: The thesis must be written in English, but students can choose whether they wish it to be submitted to a King's or UniNE professor.

Career Prospects: A Double Master of Law gives its graduates a competitive edge and allows them to pursue careers in the legal field and the business world. Alumni are presented with a wide range of employment destinations, among which the European Central Bank, the European Commission and UN, international and national banks and companies, human rights organisations and other voluntary bodies, as well as academic positions.
