Master in Environmental Policy and Law - The University of Eastern Finland
The Master's Degree Program Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change in Environmental Policy and Law is a new multidisciplinary two-year Master's degree program that combines high level teaching with vocationally-oriented educational objectives. The program provides advanced training in policy, law and impact assessments for climate change and sustainable management of natural resources.
All students will complete basic courses on environmental law and environmental policy. They will choose between two alternative majors: Natural Resources Governance or Environmental and Climate Change Law.
The University of Eastern Finland is a multidisciplinary university. The four faculties of the UEF offer teaching in nearly 100 major subjects and degree programmes. The university's annual student intake is approximately 2,200 and the university attracts nearly 9,500 applications for admission every year.

Accommodation: Accommodation in Joensuu for both international and Finnish students is offered by Joensuun Elli, an independent Student Housing Company. Joensuun Elli has several housing units located in different parts of Joensuu and provides housing for more than 3000 students. Most students live in a shared flat where they have a private room and they share kitchen, bathroom and toilet with 1-2 other students. Exchange students are usually accommodated in a furnished room with a bed and a mattress, a desk, a chair and a wardrobe. More information here.

The applicant must have completed a lower university degree equivalent to a Finnish Bachelor’s degree in a University. Most of the credits in the degree should be from legal studies. Tuition fee is 100 EUR..

Master's degree comprises 120 ECTS credits (cp) and takes 2 years of full-time studying.
The degree consists of a major subject (100 cp) and elective studies (20 cp). Also some language and communication studies and a Master's thesis are included. More information here.
Students successfully completing the programme are awarded with one of the following degrees, depending on their previous degrees and major:
1) Master in Social Sciences (MSocSc)
2) Master of International and Comparative Law (MICL)
3) Master of Laws
Depending on the major each student can work in governmental, NGOs and other private enterprises.
