After a fruitful open call and a very rewarding editorial process, we are very excited to announce the release of the eighth number of our magazine! We invite you to discover here the freshly published articles on various and challenging legal subjects, as well as our editors’ contributions to this issue.

For the International law enthusiasts, this number of Lawyr.it magazine contains an article about the implementation of the right to liberty and security in Iraq, as reflected in the issues of arbitrary arrest and the reasonable detention time-frame. Furthermore, other three articles on international law, the first about the European Regulation on inheritance law, the second about the European Union leniency policy, and the other concerning competition law policy decision-making are waiting to be discovered by Lawyr.it readers.

Our Domestic focus section comprises a series of analyses on consumer contracts, the loan assignment in the Romanian legislation, and the warranty against defects in construction contract. For those students who like criminal law, we published a contribution about how media coverage can influence preventive arrest proceedings and also an article about the particularities of the crime of omission under the Romanian Penal Code.

If you are passionate about constitutional law, Lawyr.it has included in this issue an article concerning the parliamentary immunity as seen in the Romanian legal system and another one regarding the negative side of legislating with two-thirds majority.

In our Professional Spotlight section you can find an interview with Elena Virginia Botezan, Judge at the Cluj Court of Appeal since the beginning of 2015. Previously, she had been a successful prosecutor for eighteen years, having also worked for the Romanian National Anticorruption Directorate in the past.

Moreover, as this summer brings lots of opportunities for law students, we made sure you do not miss some of the most interesting currently available for you. Therefore, Lawyr.it has prepared an extensive Briefing section with internships and summer schools.
