LL.M in Transnational and European Commercial Law, Mediation, Arbitration and Energy Law International Hellenic University (IHU) 

This LL.M programme aims to provide a thorough analysis of commercial law and alternative dispute resolution within a transnational, EU and international context. Emphasis is given on how cross-border business activities, companies and financial markets are regulated and how alternative dispute resolution is conducted. 

The International Hellenic University (IHU) is a Greek public university, based in Thessaloniki, where programmes are taught exclusively in English. IHU specialises in offering postgraduate programmes with an international outlook to both Greek and international students from countries as diverse as Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cameroon, FYROM, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Mexico, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Sudan, Turkey, Ukraine and the USA.

Application Process

To be considered for this LL.M, candidates are required to have a good Law degree from a recognised University and an English language certificate with a good score (Proficiency, IELTS, TOEFL or TOEIC).

The IHU operates on a rolling admissions basis:, applications are accepted all year round, as long as there is an opening.  To ensure a quick response and place availability, prospective students are encouraged apply as early as possible. Please ensure that you complete the application form fully, as described below, and submit all your supporting documents for us to make an informed decision.

To apply for a master's programme at the IHU, candidates will need to provide the following documents in hard copy form via post at International Hellenic University, School of Economics, Business Administration & Legal Studies Admissions Office, 14th km Thessaloniki-Moudania, 57001 Thermi, Greece:

a) a completed application form, including personal statement (500 words). 

b) certified copies of their degree certificate and transcripts, detailing the courses studied and grades attained. Graduates of Greek Universities are not required to provide originals or certified copies, under Law 4250/14.

c) two academic references

d) proof of competence in English

e) two recent passport-size photographs

f) a copy of their CV

Core Courses: European Economic Law I, European Economic Law II, Transnational Commercial Law I, Transnational Commercial Law II, International Commercial Arbitration, Ιnvestment and Energy Arbitration, Recognition and Enforcement of International Arbitral Awards / Mediation, Energy Law

Elective Courses: Students are required to take 4 elective courses from a wide selection: 

Legal Aspects of International Finance, International Investment Law, Media Law - Telecommunication Law, Sports Law/Sports Arbitration, Economic Analysis of Law, International and EU Tax law European Labor & Employment Law, Intellectual Property Law - Innovation, Technology and Patent Law, etc.

Master's Dissertation: The Master’s Dissertation is an individual 10,000-word paper of original scientific work. The topic is chosen by the student with input and advice from a faculty member, who acts as a supervisor.

It is addressed to recent graduates and qualified lawyers seeking to pursue a career in international, EU and transnational commercial law, company law, capital markets law, financial law and alternative dispute resolution, as well as to national regulators and public officers.
