The organisers invite you to participate in the 9th Nelson Mandela Human Rights Moot Court Competition due to be held in Palais des Nations, in Geneva, Switzerland on July 18, 2017. The competition involves a written phase after which teams are selected for the oral phase. Teams argue a hypothetical case on issues of international human rights law before a hypothetical Human Rights Court, on the basis of the International Bill of Human Rights and other applicable (including regional) human rights instruments.

Who?

Participation is open to both undergraduate and master’s degree law students from all universities in the world.

How?

Universities are invited to register once information is made available on the Moot website. Teams can register online directly. Each university should register two law students (preferably one woman and one man) and one Law Faculty Representative.

When?

The deadline to register is June 12, 2017.

Participants must cover all their own costs and are encouraged by the organisers to begin fundraising as soon as possible. Donors may include embassies, the UN and EU, bar associations and law firms, corporate donors and their own universities. The winning team is awarded two scholarships to participate in a fully-funded three-week summer programme at the University of Lucerne, Switzerland.
