The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) offers internship programmes for those interested in gaining experience at an international arbitration institution. The PCA offers internships at its International Bureau and a joint program with the International Council of Commercial Arbitration (ICCA). Both programmes last for three months, starting at the beginning of January, April, and October, with an additional session in July for the PCA internship.
Who?
Ideal candidates are recent law graduates with top marks. Applications from law students entering their final year of school, recent graduates with some professional experience or engaged in advanced law studies are also accepted. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in the fields of international dispute resolution or public international law, but a specialisation in these areas of law is not required.
Fluency in French and English is essential, while additional language skills a strong asset.
How?
In order to apply for an internship, candidates are invited to send an e-mail indicating the desired start date in the subject line and attaching a single PDF file with the required documents: Cover Letter, CV, Letter of Recommendation from a professor or senior professional, copies of Academic Transcript, and Proof of proficiency in English or French (for non-native speakers). Applicants should specify whether they are applying for the PCA internship program, the PCA-ICCA internship program, or both.
Although there is no formal interview process, applicants may be contacted by an official of PCA if further information or clarification is required regarding their application.
