Amnesty International gives students, as well as any other interested individuals the opportunity to learn more about human rights, and particularly about the freedom of expression, by taking a short course, which aims to teach participants how to claim and defend their rights.
Amnesty International gives students, as well as any other interested individuals the opportunity to learn more about human rights, and particularly about the freedom of expression, by taking a short course, which aims to teach participants how to claim and defend their rights.
Participants will be challenged to think critically devise effective actions to defend the human rights of others, as well as to adapt rights of freedom of expression, association and assembly to daily situations. As part of the course, participants will have the chance to communicate with human rights activists and defenders.
Who?
Anyone is invited to sign up for the course and no previous knowledge is needed. Participants who sign up with a friend and a group may take part in group activities together.
What?
During the course, participants will explore human rights case studies, as well as real cases of individuals at risk. Based on those cases, participants will find out how actions are developed in order to defend people against human rights violations, by interacting with moderators from across the human rights movements.
When?
The course starts on November 17, 2015 and lasts for three weeks. Preparing for the course should take between 3-5 hours a week.
Please note that signing up for the course is free but, in order to obtain an instructor-signed certificate to verify their achievement, participants need to pay a fee of 49 $.
