Master in European and Comparative Social Law / Master (M2) Droit européen, parcours franco-hellénique: Protection des droits et espace social européen Aristotle University of Thessaloniki 

The Faculty of Law, of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in collaboration with Université Toulouse 1 Capitole offer a double master's programme in European and Comparative Social Law. This Master focuses on the rules of EU and international law, regarding social protection policy, administrative and labour law.

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is the largest university in Greece, covering all disciplines. It comprises 10 faculties, which consist of 40 schools and 1 single-School Faculty, and about 73.930 students. It is widely recognised as a vibrant centre of learning which draws its inspiration from a long tradition of academic achievement. Its School of Law was founded in 1930, and has a long history of excellence and important contribution to the Greek legal culture. Its aim is to provide young scholars with comprehensive education in law, and with opportunities for further research in related areas.

Application Process

To be considered for this Master, candidates are required to have a good Law degree from a recognised University and they must also be able to demonstrate adequate knowledge of social and labour law, administrative law, social protection law as well as international and EU social law. Fluency in both French and English is also a requirement.

Application for the 7 students that will be admitted at AUTH begin in May each year, and are completed by June at latest. To apply for this programme, candidates will need to provide the following documents in hard copy form via post at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, School of Law, University Campus, 54124 Thessaloniki, Greece:

• a completed application form [GR] 

• certified copies of their degree certificate and transcripts, detailing the courses studied and grades attained. Graduates of foreign universities are required to submit diploma equivalence provided from the Hellenic National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC).

• a brief personal statement, written in French, including the reasons for applying

• proof of competence in English and in French

• a copy of their CV


Programme Structure (90 ECTS)

To obtain this Master's degree, students must follow two semesters of core courses; the first at Université Toulouse 1 Capitole, and the second at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki:

• Semester 1 - UT1 Capitole (30 ECTS): Principes généraux des droits européen et international; Relations entre les normes nationales, européennes et internationales; La justice de l'Union; Protection européenne des droits fondamentaux 1

• Semester 2 - AUTH (30 ECTS): Droit européen de la sécurité sociale; Droit social européen; Droit comparé du travail; Droits sociaux fondamentaux.

• Semester 3 (30 ECTS): In their third semester, students have the opportunity to choose between pursuing an internship and submitting an internship report in either English or French, or submitting a Master's Dissertation in French.
